NEW STUDY REPORTS 70% EXPERIENCE RELIEF WITH HYPNOSIS
IBS effects 20% of the US population. However, there is no cure for IBS. The characteristics of IBS may include chronic abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, and nausea. It is one of the most cited reasons for work absences. It can severely diminish the quality of life for sufferers.
A recent released study at the Wythenshawe Hospital in England reported that 70% of IBS patients received relief with hypnosis.
In some cases the side effects of the prescribed drugs are as bad as the symptoms resulting in poor compliance with those patients. Zelnorm, a popular drug for treatment of IBS is restricted to only the most serious cases due to cardiological problems.
Adraine Fugh-Berman, MD, chair of the Women’s Health Network in Washington, DC says that hypnosis should be the treatment of choice for IBS cases which have not responded to conventional therapy.
